My First Birchbox

A few months ago my friend Katie introduced me to Birchbox. Birchbox is a service that delivers deluxe samples of high end beauty products to your door once a month for $10. Katie had read about it on The Small Things and told me she wanted to try it.

After looking over the blog, and then Birchbox's website, I decided that I too NEEDED to try this. The idea of having new products to try every month for a reasonable price was intriguing to me. I just don't have the money to waste on full size products that may or may not work, and I tend to stick to my tried and true products because of this.

So, last month I signed up for Birchbox, and today I received my first box!

A Closeup of Zoya's Megan Polish

  • Juicy Couture Perfume
  • Miracle Skin ™ Transformer Treat and Conceal
  • VMV Hypoallergenics Re-Everything: Eye Serum
  • Zoya Nail Polish in Megan
  • wichcraft Granola

I will try to review these products as I use them, but I'm super excited about the nail polish and the eye serum. I've wanted to try a Zoya polish, but I haven't come across any in stores. I also have been looking for a new eye serum. I completely forgot about the one in my makeup drawer and I didn't finish using it before it went bad. I don't use eye serum frequently, but sometimes your skin just needs the extra help! This small bottle will probably suit my needs for quite some time, if it works! And I'll be sure to post pics when I use the polish.

For some reason my camera gives all of my pictures an orangish tint. I'll have to figure this out... But I hope you enjoyed by first Birchbox post!

Note: The granola is described as "toasty" and it sort of tastes burnt. Not particularly enjoyable...

Argan Oil

Argan oil! I am in love with this stuff. The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil  smells amazing and is good for hair and body. I have the  solid  and it makes a great cuticle oil. The label says not to use on the face but I may have already done that... I might grab a few items the next time I’m near a Body Shop because I really just want to smell like this all the time.  The Josie Maran Argan Oil Light  is a liquid and has no smell and can be used all over, including the face. It’s super effective at getting rid of flakes and dry patches. It also plumps wrinkles and improves skin elasticity. The “Light” version is different from  normal Argan Oil , it sinks into skin faster and dries with no extra shine, but from what I can tell it is missing some of the skin repairing properties of regular Argan Oil. I like to use the liquid on my brows and lashes because it can help them grow and my eyebrows need all the help they can get. You can either add a few drops ...

I don't take gym selfies...

The dermatologist said that sweating might help with the flares. Not losing weight necessarily, just being more active. For the first week I did 30 minutes on the treadmill, five times that week. I did it. I took my ass down stairs and did my treadmill time. I sometimes crashed afterward, but I did it. I bought new sports bras. I run to get my heart rate up then walk for a while, alternating as needed. I couldn't run with my old shitty sports bras. I bought the sports bras. Then there was a holiday weekend and a funeral and I didn't walk. And now I have hard spots in one arm pit and my stomach is raging. I did 20 minutes this morning. It was slow, I had to take a break, but it was 20 minutes. Now my stomach hurts and it's not getting better. But I did it. And I will try again tomorrow.
